Where does Batch Accelerator take place?

Batch Accelerator is delivered in regions across New Zealand. Our workshops are delivered in person, usually one to two times a week. In some regions, we deliver Batch electronically.

What is the time commitment of Batch Accelerator?

It is less than most founders expect; a few hours per week if you participate in all the recommended activities. All parts of Batch Accelerator are optional; as a founder we expect you to choose how to spend your time to maximise the odds of your company succeeding.

Should I apply?

My idea is just an idea. Is it too early to apply to Batch?

No. Apply. Batch Accelerator is built for early-stage ideation. Batch helps identify customer segments and helps prove if there is a market for your solution.

We‘ve already been working on our startup for a while or have come out of the Young Enterprise Scheme. Is Batch Accelerator the next step for us?

We’d say YES! Most of the companies that come through Batch Accelerator are pre-revenue, we still see some that have traction. The program will help you build out your business model and, most importantly, connect you to our national and international mentor network.

We aren’t looking for investment. Should we still apply.

Simple answer, YES. Money and investment isn’t everything. Proving your business model is.

I have a great idea for a startup, but I don’t have all the skills to build it. Will you still accept my application?

It’s important that you understand the importance of a team. If you don’t have all the skills, that is fine. But you will need to demonstrate that you can and are willing to build a team around you to execute your idea. When it comes to technical skill, it’s always good to have that part of your team, but if you don’t, don’t stress. We can help you build your team.

Can I participate in Batch Accelerator if I am a full time student or in a ful time job?

YES! Workshops are in the evenings. We have designed the accelerator to work around you, as we all know how busy entrepreneurs are!

Can I apply more than once?

YES! Often, founders that don’t have success in a specific ‘batch’ re-apply, adding important information that they have learned from their frist pitch into the newer business model. If you have applied before, we encourage you to apply again.

If we participated in another accelerator, can we still apply to Batch Accelerator?

YES! In the start-up world, the more you do, the better you get. Accellerators tend to have different angles, so we welcome your application into Batch Accelerator.

What type of feedback do you give after I submit my application?

Normally, we will send feedback from our inital interview or pitch. If you do have success into the accelerator, then feedback is given often, not only from the Batch Accelerator team but from morntors, stakeholders and those around the network.

Do we need to set-up a limited company before applying?

No. If your idea has merit, we will then help you through that process.

The application deadline has passed. Can I still apply?

No. You will need to wait for the next Batch Accelerator.

I live in a region where Batch Accelerator has already taken place. I can apply for another region’s Batch Accelerator?

Yes. However, please note that it is best to be present in person for the weekly sessions. If this can not be sorted, please apply and talk to us.

We have two or more ideas. Can we submit multiple applications?

You can, however, we suggest you put your best application forward.

We submitted our application but have had a few changes that need to be made.

Once we receive your application, we send a confirmation email. If you have questions about your application at any time, please contact us.

We previously applied and would like to use that application for this batch.

That’s great, however you will need to re-submit your application every time you apply.

Does Batch Accelerator help in the social enterprise or non-profits space?

Short answer is YES! We do, however, prefer social enterprises or non-profits that charge fees for their products and services to cover their operating costs, rather than relying on donations. Paying users complain when you go off course, so it's more likely that organizations will provide the value they claim to when users pay. If you feel you're an exception, please apply and explain why.
